This is my first instructable, I hope this work will be appreciated.

First of all, let me apologize for any kind of grammatical or sintax error, I'm trying to improve my english everyday, and I wish everything written will be as clear as possible to make you understand every step.

This project is about a light table, used to copy drawings, tracing on a new paper guidelines of a previous sketch, making layer-projects, drawing at night without the need of an external lamp (maybe you're out and don't have access to electic network) or whatever involved with backlit surfaces.

The idea followed was to make a portable, light and small object in which you could place both your drawing tools and drawings. This product has to consume low power and is intended to be used in dark places.

So, let's see what you will realize.

Step 1: Material

First of all: security.

I'm not responsible of any misuse of tools. Protection glasses and gloves are highly recommended.

All units are expressed in millimiters (mm).

For this project you’ll need:

- 4mm Plywood

- 10mm Plywood

- Vinyl glue

- 1x Brush

- 1x Plastic cup

- Plexiglass

- 10x 5mm white LEDs

- 2x AA Batteries

- 1x Battery Holder

- 1m wires

- 1x Bipolar interruptor

- 4x M4 screws

- 1x 3mm, 1x 5mm Drill bits

- 16x Nails

- 1x File

Step 2: Shopping Time

I went to alocal store and bought all the material I had not (wood, plexiglass).

Since I don’t own the tools to cut these into straight pieces I made them do it for an extra price (actually they asked me one time and a half the price of the material), so when you will assemble the screen you won’t have problems.

In the pictures you can see the name of the pieces you’ll use and their dimensions.

For this project you’ll need:

- 2x ‘A’

- 1x ‘B1"

- 1x 'B2'

- 2x ‘C’

- 2x ‘D’

- 2x ‘E’

- 2x ‘F’

- 1x ‘G’

That was about plywood. You’ll also need plexiglass:

- 2x ‘H’

- 1x ’I’

Step 3: Glue

Take the plastic cup and fill of glue and water following this proportion: 3glue : 1water.

Now use the brush and put a layer of glue on every piece of wood in order not to make it absorb humidity (it also protects them).

Let dry for some hours.

Step 4: Base

Now you have to mount the base (follow pictures, it’s super easy).

You’ll need pieces ‘E’, ‘F’, ‘G’ and nails.

Attention: befose nailing you have to make a hole for your interruptor (and, if necessary, use a file)

Apply another layer of glue and let it dry.

Step 5: Frames

Now it’s time to make frames.

So, take ‘A’ and ‘B’. put some pieces of tape to stick them together, then flip over the “structure”, pick up again your brush and place another abundant layer of glue: this time it will glue ‘A’ and ‘B’ pieces together.

Now you have to make the other one with the pieces of wood that are left.

Let the glue dry (don’t be in a hurry and leave them a night) and then remove tape.

Finally apply glue on the side that hasn’t it yet.

Now it’s time to get rid of frames, but before you just have a last step: you have to glue the two frames together: be sure to put the lower frame in such a way you have 20mm internal the upper frame to serve as support for the plexiglass.

And again… let dry.

Step 6: Circuit

The circuit is super simple: it consist in 10 LEDs put in parallel (current intensity sums up), and a generator made up of 2x AA batteries put in series (voltage sums up).

LEDs are grouped in 5 just because you have to put them on the 2x 'H' parts.

Drill 5x 5mm diameter holes, distant 40mm each other. You have also to drill 2 small holes with the 3mm drill bit at the sides in order to use screws to fix in position the piece of plexiglass.

Step 7: Finished

Just put the full frame on the base and the project is finished.

The frame should fit in and stay in position because of glue layers; if this doesn't work you can use 4x small screws to ensure closure (put them at the corners of the full frame).
